The added dimension for Christians is their faith in God who is Love-Communion: Father, Son and Holy Spirit
So Christian spirituality is a person's or group's way of being, arising from their encounter with the Living God and the person of Christ, lived in the power of the Spirit who is God's gift to us. The fundamental choice is "that God's will be done".
The Son showed us that his fundamental choice was to carry out his Father's loving will of fullness of life for all. This is why he became human; it is the meaning of his life. Christ's life is a fundamental and constantly renewed choice for the Father's will (John 4:34). It is a radical choice for love, love of the 'other', of the world, in the greatest degree of freely giving himself (John 3). This is what Christ teaches to all those who want to follow him; it is what he asks of his disciples, of his apostles, of his mother (Matthew 7:21; Mark 3:31-35). It is life in the Spirit.
And it is in this fundamental choice that Jesus revealed himself to be Son and, at the same time, to be the Christ, saviour of humanity in Love. For this reason, Jesus is our justice; he is our peace. It is this choice for universal salvation in fulfilment of the Father's will which dictated what Jesus said, what he did, when and in what way. All this was unified in that fundamental choice, unalterable, identifying, unifying.
So Christian spirituality is a person's or group's way of being, arising from their encounter with the Living God and the person of Christ, lived in the power of the Spirit who is God's gift to us. As such, spirituality is constantly developing. It is consistently saying "yes" to God's plan of universal salvation and it unifies, defines and directs their life.
Christian spirituality is nothing other than the way of being resulting from choosing "here and now" and at every moment "that God's will be done", in oneself and in the world, the will of God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, community of Life and Love.
